Biography: Multi talented musician, composer. Band background as synth player, bass player, Electric guitar and even drum kit. Started with electronic music and instruments mid eighties. Got into Psytrance late nineties and started recording psy music around 2007. I sometimes DJ mine and others music on parties and festivals. Boom!

Background:
Perceptional Enhancer I made in late 2006. The song is released on Qubetech.net label. I let it 'free' only until the end of this month, because the track is for sale on the net since 2007 (very few downloads...cry.. cry). But I don't care if people don't like this track, I LOVE IT!! Especially the first half. I used my Clavia Nord analogue synth to make most of the percussion sounds, inc. kick, snare HH etc. And the basses too. And the solo sounds too... This track is like an example (from me) on how to mess around and record with one of the coolest electronic instrument created, the Clavia Nord synth. Notice the plastic like scratching sound in the beginning... it's sick (good sick)

History...
The first contact I had with Cubase was when it still was only a MIDI sequencer built for the ATARI computers. Interesting is that the MIDI parameters Cubase controlled back in the early nineties are virtually exactly the same in today's Cubase. The big difference, however, is that nowadays the Midi sensitive instruments (Soft and hardware alike) are so much more developed.

Now I mostly use Ableton Live, my new favorite sequencer, recorder, time stretcher, looper and pre-mastering tool.

Deon started his career in music in 1994 when he was trained by 3 of South Africa's best hip-hop DJ's. From there he moved on to the hard house, gabber and hard trance scene where he played in the popular clubs of Cape Town South Africa.

He started producing music in 1996 and started the project "Damage" with his partner and co-producer James (broken toy) around the year 2000. They worked on this project for about a year before they introduced it to the world.

Damage was a huge success from the start and they signed up with a South African label, "Timecode Records". They released a number of trax on a few international compilations and did many successful gigs around the globe.

One year later, a very well known international label called "Shaffel/ Chemical Crew Records" approached them for the release of the debut Damage album, god help us. during the production of the album, the project became deon`s solo project. at the start of 2009, the 2nd damage album , bad creationz, was released with yabai records , japan.

With his wide musical influences, Deon will keep on creating a style of music which is rich in colour, flavor, funk and lots of attitude. One of the many reasons why damage is so popular amongst young psytrance lovers.

Biography: I have been making music for some years, starting with a rock band when i was 15 years old, playing the guitar and the bass, some years later i started to play drums with a group of African traditional drummers.

With 19 years old, i started to learn something about electronic music, making some Hip-Hop beats with Reason 2.0, something like 2 years later i was getting something better with electronics and try to do something more with psy trance. Today with 27 years i do some music for my own pleasure i’m learning things about electronic music every day. Finished an electronic music course with 18 on 20, but on these things you never know too much, so i’m always trying to know a bit more, step by step the music get’s better.

First i would like to thank those of you who entered the competition for your great tunes, we had lots of enjoyment listening to your tracks.

The final decision was tough due to the quality of the tunes and as such made it very difficult for us to choose the winner - but in the end we had to choose someone so here goes.

In 3rd Place - Retohmorgon - Septarian Module 150 BPM 2010

Congratulations on winning the 3rd prize of 75% of any Cubase Guru Course.

I enjoyed this tune immensly especially the haunting emotional content it contains. Not being a Dark Psy fan i was surprised at how this track made me feel which made it difficult for me to put into 3rd place but the reason for it being 3rd and not higher came down to production quality, it just wasnt as well produced as the top 2 tracks.

In 2nd Place - Damage - Kick up the Volume

Congratulations on winning the 2nd Prize - Psy Trance course.

This track had us bouncing away from start to finish and we noted the hip hop elements the whole way through the track which i assume comes from your original initial training mentioned in your Bio.
The track is a great example of full on psy with its constantly climbing mellodies and percusion/drums emotional content.
The production levels are very good and the arrangement was constantly pushing the listener into a frenzy which is what we look for in Full On Psy Well done.

This track hooked me from the very beginning. Even though this is a very old tune (2006 i believe) i enjoed the Nord squrelch/plastic sounds and found it to be ahead of its time.
Breaks is a genre i enjoy very much but this seemed to have something different which i had not heard a lot of before, just a different rythmic feeling to it, which i enjoyed thoroughly.
I also enjoyed the haunting interludes of spooky background sounds and the simplistic yet eerie feeling of the syncopated percussion and haunting notes with the dark large breaky bass
The production levels are top notch, crisp clear highs, well defined mids and the lows and nice and punchy with a solid round firmness which lacks in a lot of todays production.
A worthy winner and thoroughly enjoyable to listen to
