PostSubject: Broadband connection issues   Sun Jan 06, 2008 4:51 pm

If you are a listener of Trance Moon Radio, you may notice from 19.00pm to 01.00am +- (UK Time)
the connection in Radio get slow and start to buffering.

This is annoying and the only responsible are VIRGIN (ex NTL.WORLD) VIRGIN is the Provider of my Broadband.
Looks like since November 2007 they're servers are full and the speed connections at -peak time- can not handle the 2 SAM Broadcast Programs I have running on my computer to make direct broadcast connection.

I am Paying 25.00 pound a month for fast connection 4MB, buffering should not happen !

Next Option is the 20MB Speed connection that will cost me 37.00 Pounds a month but I can not pay that ,as I am the only and main support for these Radios and Web site and I am reaching the limits of cost for no benefits.

I try to look at other Broadband Providers but I found that the most part of Internet providers are made by phone line and in my case, I am on Cable connection.
This leave me with just 2 Broadband company's to chose, Virgin and other one That rely on Virgin !

Its not my interest to have a phone line at home as I will not use it ,but if this is the only way to go,Its what will be ! For Now I am still in searches for Good Broadband providers by Cable.
You know some ?
Have a phone line will be extra expense for Trance Moon Radio.
If you like to help me to have the best for all, please donate.
Donation button is on web site.

Thank you.

After knock my head for some days I found a way to stop with the buffering in Radio from 19.00pm to 01.00am. (for now.)

1- subscribe for 2 spaces in the web. 10 pounds a month !
2-encode tracks at desired bit rate .
3-make psy trance play lists.
4-make Dark Trance Play lists.
5-upload psy play lists to the web.
6-upload dark play lists to the web.
7 - Try to see how it works.

Sorry the people that was listen the radio at that time,
I couldn't get the encoders switch off without throw all listeners out !
I know how to do now.)

To explain in a small manner...
whend Radio start making buffering, I will switch to the web play lists and I will comeback with live broadcast after the pick time come down.

This pick time have been from 19.00pm to +- 1.00am (UK time)

I will update the play lists in web space and set up more tracks to be encoded at the right bit rate because the sound quality.

I try to call my internet provider (virgin) many times but no help service . They have lots of phone numbers but 1 hour later I get just to speak with a robot.
Probably if I stop to pay they will contact me.)

At this point ,I like to leave a question...
Is the internet providers save ?
1 year ago ,I was making broadcast with the same programs at the low speed but soon, I start to have buffering problems and I upgrade my internet connection to 4M speed and everything was working brilliant.
1 year later , the same problem start to happen, buffering.
OK, if I upgrade now to 20M speed, probably next year I have the same problems again !!??

No way !

I think this internet providers are getting more and more people connected in they servers but they are not taking care of the capability's of they're servers, or they just don't care, really ??
Or maybe they care !!! Thats why the works in virgin connections never finish and we have to still pay like if we have a internet connection working fine.

If they don't care what can happen, one day the systems will crash and we will be without internet for some time.
(Do you think this is impossible ??)

For me fine.
And what about the company's and people that leave of business in internet ?
I think we are just trusting too much in something with no insurance at all !

Ok.
finally speak with a Virgin Agent, I found that Virgin establish a new rule from April or March last year .
That rule makes internet connections have all the same speed at pick time because the Extra use of bandwidth.

This is, Everyone have the same speed at pick time.
That is good but I am pay for an unlimited bandwidth connection at 4M speed !
As they say, If I get an upgrade for 20M, the same will happen at pick time.
I don't have any problems during the day just from 7.00pm to 1.00am, so its no need of upgrade as the problem as they say: Still on work.

So in this case, the unlimited IT IS LIMITED.
Was told me ,that rule come specify in the contract in very small letters.
In case the servers get too full , they have the right to take the usage (bandwidth) that we are paying.

They are the one and they are the only where to get cable connection... Like't or not !

This way, just let me the the web space I subscribe in shoutcast servers for pick times and upload play lists.
Some times you will see the www.streamsolutions.com in the player.(
Till Virgin have more space in the servers and give us the same speed connection back at any time, I can not do nothing more about.
Unless music will not stop Very Happy
